Rainbows and Sunshine
If I have seen one rainbow, I have probably seen 100 in my lifetime. And almost always if not always I see the rainbow after the rain when the sun comes out. It’s as if Mr. Sun says, see what I can create. This optical illusion in the sky brings beauty to the eyes if just for a moment. But without light, it is unlikely to happen. People capture rainbow moments on camera and share them with the world. The picture you see here is one I captured of a double rainbow.
A quick Internet search reveals myriads of stunning rainbow photos from all over the world. It makes me wonder what the rainbow looked like when God parked the ark on the mountain. God spoke to Noah, “I will never flood the earth again and the rainbow in the sky is a sign of My promise.”
God is into making promises and keeping promises. There is a Scripture in the Bible that says, ‘all of God’s promises are yes and amen (II Corinthians 1:20). In other words if God says it He will do it. So in today’s world that no longer seems upside down, but is upside down, let’s remind ourselves of some of the promises of God to all who will believe.
But first, we must believe. It takes faith to hear a promise and believe it will come true. The very nature of a promise speaks of the future. We read of one example in the Bible in Genesis 12 where God promises Abram a great nation will come from him. Abram is married to Sarai. Both are up in age which makes the promise hard to embrace. Yet, Abram believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness. Abram stood in faith towards the promise - for 25 years! Well, the rest is history, literally.
God’s promise to Abram and Sarai was like sunshine during rain. After waiting 25 years, the rainbow appeared and the beginning of the promise began to manifest. In the midst of the rain, we learn to wait, build our faith, and trust God that all of His promises are yes and amen.
Until next time, remember the heart of the matter is the matter of the heart!
