Three Things Pruning Provides
The Pruning December 1
John 15:2 – Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit (that stops bearing) He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit.
We established the Vinedresser as Father God. Jesus, the Vine, is dressed by God. Believers, the branches, get nourishment and produce fruit from the Vine. The step in between can be overlooked due to potential pain caused by pruning. We are all a work in progress. To gain progress we need to go through pruning. The good news? Pruning brings growth. The bad news? Pruning comes often and often with pain. Gardeners prune in the garden world, whether trees, bushes, or plants. Why? To produce more fruit. Pruning holds a disciplined step in the development of healthy plants. The Lord corrects and disciplines (prunes) everyone because He loves them.
We should look for opportunities to be pruned. We should expect it to come and be prepared to submit to the necessary discipline. We should embrace pruning. Pruning brings perfection (maturity) in our walk with the Lord (Hebrews 12:6-13). You can learn to recognize Who is pruning you and who is provoking you. As we allow God to prune us, He will stand between us and the enemy, protecting your fruit and not allowing it to be devoured (Malachi 3:11). The Pruner protects!
Pruning is not fun but necessary for our growth, protection, and the production of fruit. Write about an area of your life where God desires to prune you. Will you let Him?
