Do You Know My Jesus?

Would you agree that we live in some perilous times today? Wars and rumors of wars. Earthquakes in various places! I have an app on my phone called Last Quake. It alerts me when and where the latest earthquake happens. I have lived in an earthquake zone and still have friends within this zone.

The importance of knowing God for ourselves cannot be overstated! It is vital that we know him intimately to get through the hard times coming.

  • You might say, well yes! Jesus is the Son of God and indeed He is. Did you know He called Himself the Son of Man more than He called Himself the Son of God? Over 100 times either He or others called Him the Son of Man. This shows the human side of Jesus. He desired for others to relate to Him as He related to them.

  • If you are so bold as to say, well Jesus is God! You would be exactly right. God laid down everything He created, came to the earth as Himself in the form of His Son, and paid the price to buy His creation back, mankind, that satan stole and man disobeyed and gave away. Colossians 1:19 states that it pleased the Father that in Him (Jesus) all the fullness should dwell. In 2:9 he continues with, in Him (Jesus) dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.

  • Maybe the first thing you think of when I ask, “Do you know my Jesus, is He is my Savior! Again, you are perfectly correct. His purpose in coming to the earth was to die for the sins of mankind – to save us from our sins! For you and I to know Him this way, we must first recognize we need saving. We must acknowledge we are a sinner. We are not a sinner due to what we have done or haven’t done, but because of the seed of man’s disobedience. God’s saving grace for mankind took front and center, not an afterthought. We read that before the foundation of the world, the Lamb was slain. He was destined to be the final sacrifice for all who will believe can call on His name and be saved (John 3:16).

  • Who is my Jesus? He is my Mediator – the One who continues to advocate as a Judge for us when satan brings accusations against us. Do you know when you make Jesus Savior, you are blood-bought, washed clean, and the devil has no rights to you anymore? Because He became a curse for you, the curses over your life are broken! You are free! I Timothy 2:5,6 tells us that there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

  • Maybe you believe by now that when I ask you, Do you know my Jesus, you can say, He is my Lord! The Creator of Heaven and Earth, loves me and desires to serve me as I serve Him. Satan may have rule over the earth's systems, but he does not have rule over you. We have power and authority over him as we make Jesus Lord over us. He rules with love, mercy, and grace. This Jesus forms us to be what He created us to be in the beginning. We read in Philippians 2:11 that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

  • Do you know Jesus as God in the flesh, the Last Adam? Jesus showed us in the Gospels and Holy Spirit continues to show us the character and nature of God. This character can be seen as the fruit of the Spirit you read in Galatians 5:22. Although we are made in God’s image (Genesis 1:26) we may think of God as we think of ourselves. Not so! God is so multifaceted that we could live for all eternity and never see the fullness of who He is! The first Adam disobeyed his Creator. The last Adam obeyed and followed His Father to the end.

  • Do you know my Jesus as King? He rules with Love, Grace, Mercy, and Justice. The phrases Kingdom of God and Kingdom of Heaven are used over 150 times in the New Testament. While on this side of Heaven, He is our soon-coming King and has made us stewards of what God puts in our hands. This includes relationships which is really the only thing we take to heaven.

  • Do you know my Jesus as Father, Brother, Friend, Lover? When Jesus’ disciples asked Him to teach them how to pray, He said, Our Father….(Matthew 6:9). He laid down His life for you and me – no greater love has a man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends (John 15:13). In the book of Hebrews he calls us his brethren. He lived a life just like you and me to identify completely with us. We read many verses in the Book of Psalms by King David where he acknowledged the Lord as the lover of his soul. In the book of Song of Solomon 3:4 there is an intimate phrase that says, “I found the one I love. I held him and would not let him go!”

  • Do you know my Jesus as Rescuer? On one hand, I wish I didn’t know Him so well this way. But in my life, He has recused me over and over as I found myself in less than desirous situations. I am thinking of Psalm 91:14 – Because he (that’s me) has set his love upon Me, I will deliver him I will set him/her on high because he has known My Name.

Many facets of Jesus remain unsaid. I pray as you explore His Word that you find Him and never Him go. Until next time, may the Lord reveal Himself to you in a way you have not known before and rescue your heart and soul.
